All orders are processed within one working day of receipt and a confirmation email or letter outlining the detail of the order together with any additional information required will be sent.
The Great Gate Company Delivery Policy
1.1The Great Gate Company delivers to the UK, Europe & America
1.2. Delivery charges, where applicable, are indicated when an item is added to the shopping cart on line. The majority of the items on the on line shop included free delivery to mainland UK, with the exception of gates which are charged as follows:
Drive Gates - £50
Side & Garden Gates - £15
1.3 There may be surcharges for some outlying parts of the UK including the North of Scotland, the Channel Islands, the Outer Hebrides and Northern Ireland. If you live in any of these areas, please call for a delivery quotation before making an on line purchase.
1.4 Free delivery and delivery prices quoted on the on line shop only apply to the UK. If you wish to make a purchase for delivery to some other part of the world, please call for a quotation.
1.5Many of the goods on the on line shop are made to order. If you require a delivery for a particular date, please call or email us and we will do our best to meet your requirements.
1.6 The following items are retained in stock and will be despatched within 2-3 working days of order by Royal Mail, first class delivery - hinge spigots, adjustable hinges, latch keepers. Express delivery may be possible, please call to confirm.
1.7Standard size arches and garden features are dispatched within 7-10 working days by courier or by our van. We use reputable courier firms that have tracking capability and you will be advised by email or telephone when goods have been dispatched together with an expected date of delivery and tracking details.
1.8 Gates and railings are made to order, please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery. This will be arranged with you following your purchase and will either be delivered by our van or by courier (see 1.7)
The Great Gate Company Return/Refund Policy – Standard On line Shop products
The Great Gate Company is committed to ensuring the satisfaction of all its customers. With the ever increasing costs of processing, packaging, delivery and transport we urge customers to take advantage of the free telephone and email support service that is available for any queries. We are happy to advise whether a particular product is suitable for a given location upon receipt of sketches and or photographs and can supply full A4 photographs and installation details of all products listed, upon request.
2.1 If products are purchased which are subsequently found to be unsuitable these may be returned for refund or exchange subject to the following conditions. Standard products may be returned within 14 days of receipt. Standard products include hinge spigots, adjustable hinges, latch keepers, planters, wine butlers, welly boot stands and garden arches. Items must be returned in good condition, unused and unassembled, in secure packaging and at the customer's expense. Refunds and exchanges of standard products are subject to a restocking charge of 10%. This covers the cost of processing and delivering the initial order.
2.2 Gates and gateposts of standard design and size that are made to order but subsequently found to be unsuitable, may be returned within 14 days and a refund or exchange offered. These items must be returned in good condition, unused and unassembled, in secure packaging and at the customer's own expense. Exchanges are subject to a 10% restocking charge. Refunds are subject to a 25 % restocking charge.
2.3 Refunds can be made to the credit card used at purchase or otherwise as agreed.
Purchasing Bespoke Gates & Railings
The Great Gate Company specializes in the manufacture of bespoke sizes and designs of wrought iron gates, railings and garden features. The following procedures are followed to ensure that the item is correctly manufactured and fit for purpose.
3.1 Bespoke widths of standard design gates and railings listed in the on line shop, do not attract any surcharge for manufacture. Simply specify the dimensions required at the point of order by phone or email and your order will be processed and dispatched. These dimensions will be confirmed to you in writing.
3.2 Customers interested in purchasing a non-standard design may either submit their own design for quotation or call to discuss their requirements. Preliminary design work, including conceptual sketches, is free of charge. (unless it is of a highly artistic nature and might be classed as an artistic metalwork commission) Upon agreement of the dimensions and design required, a quotation will be given detailing the price of fabrication, finishing options and delivery. The quotation is valid for 31 days. All designs (other than customer's own designs) including designs that are developed using the The Great Gate Company's Design Service are the intellectual property of The Great Gate Company Ltd and must not be passed, sold or transmitted to any person by any means for commercial purpose or gain or any other purpose without the written permission of The Great Gate Company.
3.3 Bespoke gates, railings and garden features made to a non-standard design or dimension can be accepted and processed on the basis of a 20% deposit (or such other amount as may be agreed at the time of ordering) of the quotation. Due to the nature of bespoke items, it is expected that this deposit will be processed off line and can be made by telephone, post or email. Payment can be accepted by cash, bank transfer, PayPal, debit or credit card.
3.4 Upon receipt of the deposit, and if the customer wishes to do their own measuring up, The Great Gate Company will collect information from the customer about the dimensions and/or design required. This may include the exchange of email photographs, further design concepts and sketches. The customer will be forwarded detailed instructions on how to measure up accurately. Upon receipt of all dimensions, a dimensioned and scaled drawing will be forwarded to the customer within 7-10 working days. Full telephone and email support is available for all aspects of measuring up.
3.5 Changes/modifications to the design and/or dimensions may be made at this stage without incurring any additional charges, unless the design change is so significant as to affect the materials and/or labour involved. Any increases in cost as a result of a significant design change will be advised to the customer at this stage. The responsibility for checking that the dimensions and design are correct and that the proposed installation is feasible and fit for purpose lies with the customer unless the customer has purchased a full site survey.
3.6 Once the drawing has been approved by the customer, the item will go into production and will be ready for delivery within 2-3 weeks. The product will be made to the dimensions and design that have been approved by the customer. Any modifications that may subsequently found to be required may be chargeable.
3.7 When production is complete, a photograph of the product will be emailed to the customer. If the product is to be shipped by carrier, payment will be required in full before despatch. If the products are to be shipped by our van and/or installed by The Great Gate Company, payment may be made upon completion.
3 .8 We recognise that many customers are not confident about measuring up and carrying out installation. We offer a full site survey throughout UK (£150) where we will measure up, review the installation for any potential problems and recommend solutions for these problems. If the customer has purchased a full site survey The Great Gate Company will take responsibility for any incorrect dimensions and any subsequent modifications required on account of incorrect dimensions will not be chargeable.
3.9 If a site survey has been carried out free of charge by The Great Gate Company , as part of a special promoitional offer, the customer will be asked to check and approve the dimensions on the drawing.
3.91 Professional installation of gates and railings is available throughout the UK. Guideline prices are outlined in the product descriptions, but are subject to site survey. If the customer has not purchased a full site survey or otherwise been in receipt of a free site survey by The Great Gate Company, these prices may be subject to change.
Cancellation of Bespoke Items.
When a customer places an order and pays a deposit, s/he is entering into a contract for the purchase of a bespoke item that has no resale value other than to the customer for whom it was made. The following terms and conditions apply to bespoke orders that are cancelled, for whatever reason.
4.1 An order is deemed to have been placed and a contract entered into when the customer pays a deposit.
4.2 An order may be cancelled within 24 hours of being placed and the deposit will be refunded in full.
4.3 If an order is cancelled after 24hours but before drawings have been completed, the deposit less £50 processing fee will be refunded.
4.4 If an order is cancelled after drawings have been prepared but before they have been approved, the deposit will not be refunded unless the deposit exceeds £250, in which case the balance of the deposit over and above £250 will be refunded.
4.5 If an order is cancelled after drawings have been approved, the customer is liable for payment of the costs of materials and labour incurred up to the point of written receipt of cancellation. Any such costs will be itemized and invoiced and are payable in full within 7 days. The value of the deposit received will be offset against this sum.
